ABOUT
Meet Lucie
My passion for movement began at age five when I discovered gymnastics and ballet, and over the years I’ve participated in many sports from soccer and snowboarding to triathlon and martial arts. In the process I’ve learned a great deal about movement, rehabbing injuries and optimizing performance.
I began my fitness career in 2001, when I became a certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor at Equinox in New York City. This enabled me to channel my passion and knowledge of movement science into helping people get stronger and move better. Around this time I was also introduced to Pilates at Chelsea Movements in NYC.
My professional journey has taken me around the world, working with diverse populations from post-natal moms to mixed martial artists. In 2007, I moved to Asia and had the good fortune to work for Chatri Sityodtong, founder of One Fighting Championship, at Evolve MMA in Singapore. There I trained alongside champions in Muay Thai and Gracie Jiujitsu, and taught FightShape group fitness classes to martial arts students. At the same time I worked as a personal trainer at Body Temple training women, which also greatly expanded my breadth of experience through working with different bodies and different levels of fitness, including pre- and post-natal.
In 2018, after having my third child and dealing with a hip injury, I discovered Pilates group reformer classes. This training helped to prepare my body for having major hip surgery, and also supported my post-surgical rehabilitation. In 2021 I began my Balanced Body Comprehensive Certification with Melissa Connolly, and began teaching classes and private sessions in my home studio. I then began teaching group reformer at Move ME Pilates, and larger group mat classes through the recreation departments in Cumberland, North Yarmouth and Yarmouth. In 2024 I discovered CoreAlign and began my certification with Tom McCook.
Under the guidance of these master instructors, I have developed my own style of teaching, which is very grounded in movement science and a solid understanding of injuries and postural issues. My classes are structured to be full body workouts that challenge each student at their own level, and make the most of their time and investment. My style is very focused on functional movement and building strength. I find so much joy in watching the physical, mental and often emotional transformation of my clients as they become stronger, fitter and able to move better in their daily lives!
